non-profit organization which gives its members the
opportunity to develop and improve their public speaking abilities through local club meetings, training seminars and
speech contests.

Each meeting gives members an opportunity to practice important communication and leadership skills. Role assignments rotate, giving every member experience. Primary skills include: | Presenting prepared speeches Members present speeches based on projects from the Toastmasters International Communication and Leadership Program manuals. Projects cover such topics as speech organization, vocal variety, effective vocabulary, gestures, and the art of persuasion. |
| Offering constructive evaluation Every prepared speaker is assigned an evaluator who points out speech strengths and offers suggestions for improvement. |
| Giving extemporaneous speeches Members present short impromptu speeches, responding to proposed topics. |
| Conducting meetings Meetings usually conclude with a short business session which helps members learn basic meeting procedures. Every meeting has an agenda published in advance with assigned roles. |
